The importance of being passionate
“One person with passion is better than forty people merely interested.” E.M. Forster
It’s appraisal time at The Scott Partnership, a really important time for reflecting on the individual team members’ progression and dedication over the past few months, and planning ahead to ensure clear paths for success. This reviewing process is something we also undertake with all our clients, and as such is important we roll-out internally as well.
One of the things we focus on within our team is understanding what each person is passionate about when it comes to the industry we work in and the client’s we work for. This is not just to ensure that we have a ‘happy, interested team’ (although that is very important); but Forster’s quote at the top of this post really summarises why passion is so important. Being passionate about what you deliver drives you to strive for consistently achieving the very best. It’s not something you can fake, but it’s something you should truly value. We recognise that in order to succeed, team is paramount and as a business we’re committed to investing time and support to help channel their passion in a way that generates results for the individual, the business and ultimately our clients.
As a team we are very passionate about delivering innovative sales and marketing strategies for our clients. This comes across in not just the way we work, but also the work we deliver. One of the most rewarding elements of our job is seeing a client enthusiastically tell us about their latest product or innovation and then having the opportunity to develop a programme to help them achieve their goals. We won’t always take the ‘easy route’ if we don’t believe it’s the right route. Rather than just being ‘Yes men’, we will challenge our clients; providing a different perspective and trying new things that they might not have considered before. We’re not afraid to test the boundaries and try something new, and that’s because we’re passionate about what we do. Being mediocre doesn’t cut it for us…being memorable does.
